How MERGE SUSU works
A rotating savings group, run by software instead of a notebook. Same idea as the susu you know — with receipts, reminders and a board everyone can see.
1. The group and its rules
Each group sets its own rules: the weekly amount, the fee, how many members, which day payment is due, and how many weeks make one "turn". For example:

Every 4 weeks one member receives GH¢8,000. After 20 turns everybody has received once, and a new cycle starts automatically.
2. Your reference number
When you are approved you get a member number (like MS-000014) and a payment reference of 6 digits (like 100014). This reference is yours only. Always type it in the MoMo "Reference" box — numbers only — so the system knows the money is yours.
3. Paying
- Dial *170# (or use the MoMo app) → Transfer Money → MoMo user.
- Enter the group's official MoMo number shown on your dashboard.
- Enter the amount, and your reference (e.g. 100014).
- Within a minute or two you get an SMS receipt from MERGE SUSU.
Paid a little less? The week shows "part paid" and you can top up. Paid more? The extra goes to your next week automatically. Paid for two weeks at once? Both weeks are marked paid.
4. Late payments
You get a reminder the day before your due day. If a week is still unpaid after the due day (and any grace days your group allows), it is marked late on the board, and your group may add a late fee.
5. Payouts
The payout order is published at the start of each cycle. Before a payout the treasurer checks that the turn's money is complete, sends the full amount to your MoMo number and records the transaction ID. You get an SMS and the board shows "Received".
6. Transparency
Every member can open the group board and see each person's weeks and payout status. Changes made by administrators are written in an audit log that cannot be edited.
