Membership agreement & terms
Every member accepts this agreement when joining a group.
1. What MERGE SUSU is
MERGE SUSU is a service that records and coordinates contributions and payouts for rotating savings groups ("susu"). It is not a bank and does not pay interest. Money is paid into the group's official Mobile Money number managed by the group's administrators.
2. My commitments as a member
- I will pay the group's weekly amount on or before the due day, every week of the cycle, with no skipping.
- I will always use my own numeric payment reference.
- I understand that the administration fee shown for my group is deducted from each weekly contribution.
- I will keep contributing for the whole cycle after I have received my payout, until every member has been paid.
- If I pay late, my group's late fee (if any) may be added, and my late weeks are shown on the group board.
- The information I give (name, phone, Ghana Card, next of kin, emergency contact) is true. The group may use it to contact me or my guarantors about unpaid contributions.
3. Payout order
The payout order is set by the group administrators (by agreement, by draw, or by joining order) and published to all members before a cycle starts. Changes after the start need the agreement of the members involved and are recorded in the audit log.
4. Leaving a group
A member who has not yet received a payout may leave at the end of a cycle. A member who has received a payout must complete all remaining contributions for that cycle.
5. Records
Contribution, payment and payout records are kept permanently and are visible to the members of the group. Administrator actions are logged and cannot be edited.
6. Disputes
Payment disputes are resolved by the group treasurer using the MoMo transaction records. Contact MERGE SUSU support if a dispute cannot be resolved within the group.
